Adria Zimmerman
is a
Somatic
Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP), a short term naturalistic
approach for the resolution and healing of trauma.
Trauma happens
when an experience overwhelms the nervous system and it’s unable to
integrate the experience. When trauma occurs in our life, it comes too
fast, too much and too soon. If the body does not naturally rebalance
itself after the incident, it can become “stuck” or “frozen”. Somatic
Experiencing is not talk therapy. It brings focused awareness of body
sensations to initiate healing and engages the patients own journey of
healing rather than someone else healing the patient. Many sufferers of
post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have achieved remarkable results
from this treatment. Examples of other types of trauma include invasive
medical/dental procedures, car accidents, falls, near drowning, birth,
abuse, war and neglect. For more information on Somatic Experiencing,
